Tyrca,
We left Drachenwald after your hubby arrived, but before you did, so I
missed meeting you. Have only heard really nice things, though, from old
friends!
Charlemagne and Barbarossa are pretty far apart. I have an old book
containing some English translations of the letters of Beatrice d'Este.
There are good 15th c. sources for both German and Italian recipes, and I
know that pasta and spaetzle were both eaten in their respective
countries, so I think that might be the way to go. It would be fun,
wouldn't it?
Years ago, I cooked a 'Venetian Crusade Against the Turks', with
alternating dishes of the 2 cultures. Some of them, in those long ago
days, may even have been period!
Regards,
Allison
