Actually, the name of the List is SCA-Cooks. The fact that we are focussing
on truly period cooking is a result of many people trying for greater
authenticity, just as, if a different group of people had become attracted
to the list, we might be having serious discussions on how to make chocolate
candy and potatoes "look' period.

We're lucky- we have some various serious scholars and food historians here.
Adamantius is very user friendly, and I can't tell you how much he's helped
me with various topics we've discussed privately- I call him my private
culinary dictionary ;-) Ras and Cariadoc tend to be a bit prickly, but both
are very knowledgeable people, willing to help, in between eating the lazy
and simply foolish for breakfast ;-) Than Bear, we have no one more ready to
help on baking in general, and giving us an understanding of how the
chemistry of baking works. Although I'm not a dessert freaque- dislike most
sweets- I'd love to hear more from Alys. Others, like Cindy, Huen,
Francisco, Anne- Marie, Aioffe, Christianna, margali and more whose names
escape me at the moment, give us tremendous resources of information from
their own research. Stefan's questions have often made us rethink our
assumptions, because as simple as they seem, often they're what we need to
help others understand better- though I still say he needs a proper period
recipe for boiling water ;-)

And Papa Gunthar, King Sir Papa Pigfarmer, has done his very best to let us
have a peaceable environment for learning, growing and teaching, with
minimal interference.

So we're lucky- not only do we have all these human resources, we even have
a well furnished rock to retire to at need ;-)
