"use 1 pound wool to 1 pound lichen.
"Fill dye pot with cold water and crushed lichen.  Bring slowly to simmer.  
Simmer 2-3 hours.  Leave overnight to cool.  Enter wetted wool the next day.  
Simmer gently to depth of color desired (1-4 hours).  Leave wool in bath 
until cold.  Wash thoroughly."
Yields a lovely pink to purple if using umbilicaria
