Actually, if you would review the posts I have made in the past couple of
days, I have indeed cited some of the sources I've been using. Dollinger
for one, the period German cookbooks I have available for my use, and the
wonderful list of spices broken down by percentage and period resource
provided on Francesco Sirenes site come immediately to mind if you have
deleted my posts. There's the rub though, I read my sources, not just trot
them out as if they were more points towards a merit badge. If you do not
wish to continue the debate, or rather if you do not wish to debate, as I
cannot see that you have begun yet, then just say so. I wasn't trying to
rub your nose in anything, I felt that you had made an incorrect statement
regarding commerce and was, as you have taught me, trying to make a
legitimate refutation, hopefully well thought out and documented.

Are you sure that you really want to say, in this public forum, that 400 +
years is an insignificant length of time, or that London, Bruges, Flanders,
Genoa, and others as well as the guilds, associations and alliances that
controlled them had little influence on anyone and were minor dynasties?
Also, how is it that England, Scotland, Spain, Portugal, France,
Scandanavia, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Prussia, and Russia fall out of your
definition of the civilization centers of the world? Seems to be the same
type of hastily made sweeping generality that brought you to this position
in the first place.

>Insisting that I present all of the written works and

I would agree, and I have not to my knowledge insisted that you do so. You
have trotted out this wonderful list of resources. I was merely suggesting
that, instead of just listing sources, you might wish to consider reading
some of them and applying the contents thereof to our discussion.

>I have presented more than ample written references to support my side of
>either argument which you seem to think is independent of each other.
Unless
>I receive further references from the professors in Germany and the US that

I have read what I could obtain of your listed sources. Have you? I think
not, because you have made no argument. You have made an obviously
erroneous statement then refused to either back down from it or defend it in
a scholarly manner. I could quite easily post a bibliography on commerce or
any other subject you wish. If I do not utilize those sources to make or
support a point though, what then is the purpose? I had hoped we could have
an interesting discussion that could add to our knowledge as well as the
knowledge of others on this list. Your self righteous indignation in the
face of rational arguement, however, shows that apparently we cannot, hence
you are finally correct in one thing since this started: we are through with
this discussion.
