Glenda,

WE eat Turkey on Thanksgiving and on Christmas we eat any number of things.
At my Grandmothers we did turkey for both holidays, but have been to
celebrations where I have had standing rib roasts, baked hams, turkey and my
favorite to make for Christmas is Cornish Game hens.

Couldn't possibly fit another public holiday in in April - Easter and ANZAC
Day are there already.

Besides, Australia being a temperate climate, we don't really have a Harvest
as such. People here can plant two crops per year (mostly different plants),
one for summer, one for winter, so we'd have to have two harvest
celebrations. The churches still celebrate harvest festival in November,
though!

We don't have many public hols in Australia, a total of 9 days. However, we
do get 4 weeks of annual leave, so that more than makes up for it!.

I was just thinking, if Americans have Turkey at Thanksgiving, what do you
eat on Christmas Day? Turkey is one of the primary meats for our Christmas
celebrations, whether we have a hot or a cold meal. (There's a thought - bet
you don't know what Aussies eat on Christmas Day - seeing as how it's
usually approaching 100F).
