SC - Wooden Trencher description

Since it was enclosed in a glass case I can only give a general description.

It appeared to be approximately 8 inches square with a circular depression O 
whose edges were approximately 1/2 inch from the edge. In the upper left hand 
corner was a smaller circular depression approximately 1 1/2 inches in 
diameter. The thickness appeared to be about 3/8 inches thick with the lowest 
part of the depressions about 3/16 inches thick.

The type wood was not mentioned although it appeared to be grained like oak 
with the grain running lengthwise front to back. The edges of the depressions 
were NOT straight from top to bottom but appeared to be gently tapered or 
rounded into the center.

There was no evidence of warping but it was a very dark rich brown color 
which, I assume, is due to prior use and several hundred years of 
environmental exposure.

The time frame was late 16th to early 17th century CE (Elizabethan). The 
original location of the object was England.
