Fond Greetings to the Good Gentles of the Known World,

As the leaves fall from the trees, many of you are undoubtedly thinking
about those projects that will keep you busy during the long, cold months
of winter. What better time to write an article for Tournaments
Illuminated?

A version of the Wish List that follows will appear in the upcoming issue
of TI. The list is not all-inclusive; rather, it is intended to give you a
general idea of the kinds of articles I'd like to see. If you have an idea
for an article and you don't see it here, please don't hesitate to contact
me. I'd be happy to discuss your ideas.

Your Servant,

Betty Rittmeyer, Editor
Tournaments Illuminated

Articles on beeswax or tallow candlemaking; making lotions and ointments;
carting wool; spinning wool, flax, hemp, or nettles; weaving; finishing
leather and furs; making baskets and nets; making shoes, hats, and garb;
calligraphy; illumination.

Essays on Whitsun, Yuletide, Midsummer's Day, or other medieval festivals;
medieval music and dance; falconry or beekeeping; gambling and games of
chance; medieval children's games; coursing the hounds; football or other
medieval outdoor games; heraldry; naming customs; how to submit your name
and device.

salting or smoking meat; fruit preserves or dried fruit; making ale from

I am interested in doing a "Viking/Norse" theme issue in the near future.
Possible topics could include Viking/Norse food, weapons, armor, customs,
clothing/textiles, and lifestyle. If you are an expert in some aspect of
Viking/Norse culture and are interested in submitting an article, please
contact me at tieditor at sca.org before March 1, 2000.

**A challenge for those skilled in the arts martial: submissions on any
aspect of the martial arts, including fighting, armoring, archery, rapier,
children's boffer tournaments, and equestrian activities, are needed and
welcome.**

Please remember that artwork, illustrations and photography help convey to
the reader your ideas. Ask a friend to take a photo while you are making
armor or tending your bees. See the submission guidelines on page 28 of
the Autumn issue of TI or contact me at tieditor at sca.org if you are
interested in writing on these (or any other) topics.
