I've been eyeing the new  GE Advantium ovens (no, that's nothing to do
with my name) that cook with halogen bulbs at microwave speed but with
the ability to roast, bake and otherwise brown food.

Unfortunately what I've seen includes a price tag of close to $2000 plus
the electrical work to have it installed (it requires a dedicated line
and doesn't come in a free-standing model). So, I'll settle for "On
earth peace, good will toward men" and take my chances.
