I was a little confused by this as well. It may be some kind of regional
variant on the prevailing definition (as with scallions/shallots), and
then I've also seen variations on the basic theme of ramps, some with
well-defined bulbs, and some without, sorta like big chives.
 
Of course, Mordonna didn't get real specific about what they looked
like, but dwelled more on usage.
