There's been some talk in the various news media recently about
speculation on the part of historians that Marco Polo never actually
made it to China; not because of some of the obviously fictional
material in his account, but because of the absence of accounts of
things that he definitely would have seen at, for example, the court of
Kublai Khan. It's pretty hard to say what another person from another
time will consider noteworthy, but it's an interesting idea, anyway.
