It's a biennial. First year you get just leaves, second year it flowers and
forms seeds.
It's extremely slow to germinate (up to six weeks), and the story is that it
has to go to the devil and back seven times before it grows. The parsley
grown for it's roots is called "Hamburg" or parsnip-rooted parsley.
