SC - Pomegranates

[Rose]

I just picked up a couple of pounds of pomegranates at the farmer's market this
week -- does anybody have any pointers for reducing them to syrup?  I see them
so seldom, I wanted to buy them while they were available, but I have no idea
how long they'll keep in the shell, and I haven't had a chance to go through my
cookbooks yet to see what I can do with them.
