And with no answers for Ana, but yet more questions...

I have read in one of my (modern ethnic) Moroccan cookbooks that both the
word gazpacho and the dish -- of somewhat stale torn-up bread soaked in
olive oil, and citrus juice or vinegar, seasoned with garlic (and parsley
and cucumber?) -- are originally of Maghribi origin, the name meaning
something like "soaked bread". Anyone know if this is true? Or is it just
another cookbook writer's fantasy?
