Probably. Frumenty is also documented as having been served with mutton
and with porpoise, after all. I suspect that if there was such a
hard-and-fast tradition as serving it with venison, it would be subject
to local interpretations of exactly what venison was.

This would, of course, be over and above the recipes that specify boar,
such as bourbelier, etc.
