Just a wild guess, but you can be buried before your funeral and the
funeral could be a memorial service. Or maybe that was the soonest they
could book the church...

Or, perhaps they've got her on ice and are planning to use her in a special
Darkover feast... (hope this doesn't offend anyone, i mean no disrespect)
