With regard to the NSDAP : One reference to cooking is in the film
'A Triumph of Will' a documentary of (i think) the 1936 convention
of the National Socialist German Workers' Party. . . there are several
scenes of feeding the multitudes at the Hitler Youth encampment.
Strength through joy!

Though OOP, I would be interested if someone more knowlegeable would
comment on ersatz foods used in wartime, whether the same substitutes
have shown up at different times and places, and any are resurrections
of perion practices. . . for example roasted grain as a coffee
substitute.
