For rhetorical purposes I espoused an opinion I don't actually hold.

Ham is not always pork. It is, in theory, an anatomical designation
which in common usage (in my opinion, and I think if a poll were taken
among residents of the English-speaking world, a vast majority would
share that opinion) _usually_ refers to ham cured in some way.
