I think that the most fun I had with this was with a young lady (college
student) who was against using animals for anything, including food, medical
experimentation and clothing. (I hasten to explain that I do not approve of any
form of cruelty to animals and am very much in favor of protecting animals that
are endangered). She was being especially critical of the fact that I have a
coyote fur collar that serves as trim on my cloak (it is at least 30-40 years
old, and I'm sure I'm at least the third or fourth person to use it...I got it
at a swap meet). She said that nothing that comes from any animal should be
used as clothing. I asked her what her shoes and belt were made of. When she
told me that they were made of leather, she got this really sheepish look (no
pun intended) on her face and apologized!
