I think that Bernadette makes some very valid points in this post. I have
emailed her privately to tell her so - and I think that there is something
wrong with the List when this situation is allowed to occur. Yes, the
discussion of what is or is not period is valid and good, but so was/is the
period ingredients list for just the reasons she states. Not all of us have
access to the ingredients or books or whatever and we all need support not
denigration. This was the point that I made way back in the Lady Seaton's
Project debate. >>
This Lady is right as well. I am literally sick of the ranting and slams and
rude commentary that I am encountering. I spend most of my time scrolling
through the digests to avoid reading this "stuff" (I am being polite here,
and have reserved myself on several occasions in the past, hoping to lead by
example. Appears a few posters aren't getting it)
What I don't understand is people who flame and rant and then say, OOOPS, I
did that in the heat of anger.
Bull, horsecookies, buffalo pucks!!!!
You can and should be stopping before you post your comments and thinking
about the content. Period. This is electronic media, you can say it at your
computer desk, write it and THEN EDIT IT BEFORE POSTING.
I am on the verge of unsuscribing to this list myself, and have only
restrained from doing so because I thought it would be a copout. The Lady who
has left (if this has happened at this point) has valid points (although I
recognized she may be a bit fragile being new to the cooks list, to some
degree you have to develop a tougher skin I know that I did. What we post is
always open to comments, questions and criticism, this is a discussion list
after all.)
My leaving is not meant as a threat, lord knows I am not the end all and be
all of medieval cooks. I work hard at what I do do, however and everyone on
this list deserves respect and common courtesy.
Please take this post as an attempt to turn this around. We all must put
forth an effort at being more considerate of the people we are posting to.
