the initial letter of the second word is a symbol for the voiced 'th', as
in the word 'there'.  it looks like a 'p' but isn't.

the symbol for the unvoiced 'th', as in 'thing',  is the thorn that gets
replaced in strange ways and forms by folks trying to comumicate it in
writing.

the 'three' is a symbol for a 'y' soung.  'yolks' of eggs, for instance.

the addition of 'i' or 'y' to the frond of a verb generally means that it
is past tense.  to be sure, check in the glossary at the back, looking
for the word without the initial 'i' or 'y'.  

'v' sometimes takes the place of the vowel 'u'.
