It must have been wonderful! Has anyone ever seen THE STORY OF ENGLISH? It
was on PBS years ago. Anyway, there is a segment about middle english. They
have some people reading it and it *is* very musical sounding. That is what
David sounded like last night as he read through some portions of C on I.
(Of course he started to giggle while reading what some of the foods were and
asking me: Do you want quail -eh? Do you want eel - eh? Well, you have to
imagine a ME accent.)

I had the interesting occasion to hear the same story by Chaucer read in
both
modern English and Middle English. It was fascinating to hear how musical
the ME was, in comparison to the Modern version. The meter makes a whole
lot
more sense when done in the original ME.
