    Actually,  a librarian / heraldic buddy of mine states that "autocrat"
is a perfectly good word,  encompassing all the power and responsibility of
one in charge of an event  -- be it a feast or a 5 day war.   I will ask her
for her documentation  -- it's probably from the OED  -- if anyone is
interested.
