A Cucumber Fool is an English (?) soup of cucumbers and cream or yoghurt 
which is served very cold.  It is one of the most refreshing Summertime 
Brunch dishes I have come across.  I found the recipe for it in "The Way to 
Cook" by Julia Child.  I have no documentation to prove it as period, though 
it is very, very similar to the cucumber recipe I responded to.
