That is, essentially, what the Toys For Tots program is... providing
Alms (by
way of toys) for The Poor (children of disadvantaged families).  I am
finding
it very difficult to understand exactly what is being objected to about
this.... I *am* trying, though...

How is the Toys for Tots program any different than the Make A Wish
Foundation in regards to the SCA's involvement?  Both are mundane (and
very,
very worthwhile) charities.  How is one "okay", and the other not?  I
realize
that the MAW tourney is an actual "medieval" event in support of the
program.
 I have attended a few.  However, so is the Toys for Tots event.... I
have
attended a few of those, as well.  Again, I am confuzzled....

I have to wonder if folks on this list would be opposed to running a
fundraising event for the American Cancer Society, since "cancer" as we
know
it was pretty much unknown (undiagnosed) in period....
