The expiration date is only a guide for the store to know when to sell
something by.  Milk is good for a week after the expiration date.  I have
kept yogurt and sour cream past the expiration date in the fridge with no
trouble.  So go ahead and buy what you need -- just keep it good and cold
and don't let it warm up on the way home from the store.
