    Yoo hoo!! Marcello!!

About that Feast you are preparing for Jan (?) didn't you want
suggestions for late italan/spainish maybe a hint of new world?? How about
this fruit (dessert) recipe published in _Ainsely Harriott's Meals in
Minutes_ (DK Publishing-BBC) :

2 oranges
3 Tabs butter
4 tabs light brown sugar
2 Tabs fresh lemon juice
2 pears peeled, cored & sliced
2 apples, peeled cored & sliced
3 oz dark chocolate, broken in pieces
4 Tabs heavy cream

Using a zester or peeler, remove the rind from one orange & set aside.
Finely grate 1 tsp of rind from the 2nd orange and reserve. With a sharp
knife remove & discard the remaining rind & pith from both oranges,
reserving any juice. Slice the fruit thickly.
Melt the butter in a fry pan, add the sugar, and stir until dissolved.
Stir in the rind from the first orange, the lemon juice, orange, pear &
apple slices; cook for 5 minutes until softened.
Melt the chocolate pieces over simmering water (double boiler or
microwave). Stir in the 1 tsp of grated orange peel, any reserved juice &
cream.
Divide the fruit among 4 serving bowls, spoon the juices over the fruit and
drizzle the chocolate sauce over each serving. Makes 4 servings.

Yes, it's NOT from authentic documentation, but may be periozoid.
The chocolate can be the dark bittersweet stuff, and the idea is just a HINT
of it. Gives your feasters a taste of that wonderous stuff only the Gods
tasted from that faraway place newly discovered. Play with it.
