Janet Jarvits has the full set, spiral recipe books included, for $275. 1970 edition. Oooh, ahhh, pretty, has volumes my mom's set doesn't. While I didn't buy that on Saturday, I did come home with that Professional Baking by Gisslen that Balthazar was on about, some M.F.K. Fisher reminiscences and assorted stuff.

Other things that are still available if they have not sold since Saturday noon:

Aresty, THE DELECTABLE PAST, hardback. $30. You see it in the SCA frequently, if only on someone's 'hold your nose' booklist. Iffy redactions but some good research leads.

Tannahill, FOOD IN HISTORY, 1973 hardback. Possible first edition? Hadn't priced it yet.

Rombauer, THE JOY OF COOKING, 1946, $45.
Rombauer & Becker, THE JOY OF COOKING, 1956, $30.

The road trip to Des Moines sounds tempting though.

Although, I seem to remember they have the small ones priced seperately than the big ones. I have the one for Russia, Germany, Scandinavia, and Italy. I am going to get more this year. - road trip to Des Moines Iowa anyone? I have picked up a copy of Tannihill's Food in History for $2 there. They have like six eight foot tables of cookbooks in boxes, and boxes under the tables, every single year.
