Cornmeal, especially in the southern part of the US (I can only speak
for southern Louisiana), is used to make cornbread, spoonbread, corn
muffins, pancakes, biscuits, dressing, hushpuppies, and numerous other
things. Cornmeal can be self rising which includes wheat flour or plain
which does not.
