Pennyroyal should be used with caution, esp. by preganant women. It is an
abortifactant if used early in pregnancy (prevents implantation) and can
cause intestinal cramps. It does have a distinctive flavor, so if it is
highlighted in the dish you should stick with the original. A combination
of catnip and apple mint is not too far off if the flavor isn't
highlighted.
