I have been working on this all weekend, trying to
figure out the best recipes for the flat bread and for
the noodles. I had assembled all the ingredients,
only to discover that my stove/ovens is almost
completely dead. They are too young to die! Only 20
years old! Sigh! I have called the gas company and
had a technician in to look at my stove. He says that
both of the pilot light electric igniters have failed.
(There are two of them. One for each stove.) Each part
is about $150 a piece according to this man, not
counting labor. So now I have to either find a
reputable repairman to do the work or decide if it
would be better to replace the stove. Sigh!

So tonight I am going to be looking at new stoves to
see if there is anything on the market that comparable
in quality to what I have and affordable. The big
bottom oven that I have could roast 8
ducks/chickens/pork roasts at one time without any
problems, while the top oven could roast two of the
same. Do any of you have suggestions for trustworthy
new stoves?

The other direction is to repair the stove. I am
trying to decide whether it would be better [although
a budget buster] to have the whole thing repaired at
once and save on labor and service charges or to have
one oven repaired first at a more affordable sum of
money and then save up for the second repair, which in
the long run would be more expensive but less of a
budget buster.

Such quandries ... when what I really wanted to be
deciding was whether the flat bread or the noodles
made the best qatâif ... sigh. Needless to say, my
project is on the back burner [which still work at
this time (knock on wood)] for the moment.

Huette the ovenless :-(
