Welcome!  I did not understand the whole thing about room-temperature
drinks until we went to England a couple of years ago.  When the ambient
temperature is in the 50's and 60's, with real low humidity, you just
don't mind drinking sodas at room temp.  
Green creme de menthe over crushed ice?  Reminds me of my dad, he had a
special ice crusher machine for just that sort of thing.  I can still see
his green tongue!
Glad you are here, don't be afraid to join in the ruckus, or to stand
back and watch the food flying!
