SC - Our Yule Feast

I've been quiet on the list of late, because I've been preparing for our
local Yule feast that just passed. Probably my 4th or so feast, but I'm
pregnant too and didn't want to back out, so it took a little longer to ready
for it.

Well, I did a lot of research and managed to get some records of a feast
served to Henry the 8th... So, I reproduced dishes from that... Not all
perfectly documentable, considering I had to get some ideas as to the recipes
from different books put in the same year, but close enough to make me happy.

Main problem was that the feast needed to be finished before court. The
current Trimaris Queen is my Laurel, and I'd been naughty making joking
comments that she'd better not make my feast late, so I knew I'd be called on
it... And, I was... Then, to make sure she wasn't to blame, court ended an
hour early and thus feast was served an hour early.

But, it was ready, so I won that little battle.. <G>

The recipes went across well, no one that I could tell went away hungry.
No leftovers came home with me... Everyone claimed them Saturday night. (I
served over 40 lbs of beef, somewhere around 95 chicken breasts, soup in
bread bowls, a collection of small tarts, and a salat, with a variety of
desserts.)

The part I am proudest of was that when I was called out, I received my
second Order of the Golden Galleon, the Trimaris excellence in feastcratting
award. I was very shocked and almost keeled over in surprise. Apparently it
was a last minute decision because of the attitude of the feasters and how
many made a point to come up to HRM during feast and make comments like "I've
never had a feast this good, can you give her something?" I was proud, and I
cried.. <G>

So, it went well... I had been planning for my next feast, but after
working the kitchen pregnant, that's being put off till the little one is
born and many months old.
