I checked every grocery (not every store, but every brand name) in Irvine:
Albertsons, Vons, Ralphs, Trader Joes.

I think I've passed one in Santa Ana but I hadn't included it in my shopping
habits yet. In the end, since the cardamom was to be in a puree of ginger,
garlic, cinnamon, turmeric and chilis, I figured that the lack of cardomom
skins was unimportant. (Why yes, we are having Indian food for dinner
tonight! How did you guess?)
I'll venture to the Smart and Final today. A quick check of the phonebook
tells me there is on in Lake Forest, and I go there occaisionally already.
S&F sounds like the sort of place that might have the big jar of cherries as
well. The warehouse store membership has always put me off from Costco and
Sams, but Smart and Final is supposed to be the same sort of thing w/out the
fee.
I'm feeling better all around: The computer at home is working again!
Bonne (happily sipping coffee and reading e-mail)
