I have seen anecdotal mention in modern Andalusian cookbooks that
gazpacho is derived from or is actually a Moorish/Maghribi dish,
meaning "torn bread". Now, bread in Arabic is "chobs" ("ch" as in
Scottish "loch"), so i can strain and get half the word. I've also
seen modern recipes are for "white" gazpacho, made with oil, vinegar,
bread, garlic, etc., but without New World stuff like bell peppers
and tomatoes
Anyone know of any reality to the tale?
