SC - Great Indian Food

I just had one of the best Indian meals I've had since I was in London.
I did a fortune teller show for an Indian family tonight (why folks want
to book fortune tellers during Christmas I don't know, but I have two of
them sandwiched in between Mrs. Claus shows this month.) Anyway, it was
this young woman's 16th birthday, and so there I went. The whole group
was just wonderful, and Dad asked me to stay and eat. Dinner was served
at midnight, and consisted of a buffet line of several dishes. I had:
Pilau of saffron and basmati rice with pistachios and peas, malagua (? a
root vegetable ground up and mixed with mustard - it looked like finely
ground up almonds), goat, curried chualadal, plantain balls, dal, and
chutney. Oh, yum, it was great. They were all very impressed that 1) I
had eaten Indian food before 2) I knew what at least some of the food was
before being told and 3) that I enjoyed what I ate. Heh, heh, not such a
clueless American as they expected, heh, heh, heh.
Oh, yes, and mocha layered birthday cake.
Not period or particularly edifying, but so yummy I just had to share.
;)
