SC - OOP dried split peas

Gee, nice to know I wasns't the only one playing with whole dried peas
today!

I did a basic pea soup, and I think that the skins need to rehydrate
first kept the peas more dry than they would normally be, as my soup
didn't turn to mush for quite a while. I simmered it for about 3 hours
before they were fully softened. It coul also be something in the drying
process - maybe they have less moisture remaining?
