This is kind of my point. Colloquial use of terms may not reflect the 
botanical nature of the product.

While they may call those round white objects "sagu" in Indonesia, 
they are indeed what we call "pearl tapioca". I lived there and 
bought them there, and i have lived in the US and bought them here. I 
have cooked with them in both places and they are interchangeable, 
while paw-paw = papayas and papaw = Asimia triloba are not equivalent.

Based on the directions in the recipe - soak overnight, which is 
standard for Southeast Asian recipes with the same item, whatever we 
choose to call it - i suspect this is indeed the product, which may 
be imported into Tasmania from Southeast Asia under this name, for 
all i know.
