Well, no. Around here you don't bring food to a home where someone has just
died, you bring flowers. Someone might bring the occasional simple cake, and
someone might offer to cook a meal for the family (which probably doesn't
have much of an appetite anyway), but people generally do not bring food
without asking first if it would be welcomed, and visitors do not expect to
be fed. Oceans of coffee, yes; casseroles, salads, etc., no.

Different cultures, different customs.
