SC - OT- Radishes, was: selecting roots and vegetables

I don't know about anywhere else but in Britain you can buy the plants (i.e.
native European varieties) at the garden centre.  I can testify to the taste
having decimated my mothers alpine strawberries as a child.  The taste is
quite different from the shop bought ones.  They are of course much cheaper
growing your own.
