That sounds like a Challenge of Honor to me! :) We had a delightful
Chicken dish of Milk and Honey at a Revel recently that was 14th or 15th
century Period. Perhaps your goal for the duration should be, rather than
to impress with the most bizzare and "strange" recipes, to find PERIOD
recipes that most resemble Modern foods?? Certainly they served some sort
of chicken soup in Medival times? Chicken, vegetables and water were
readily available, I would think? And what about these cuskynoles people
keep getting so excited about? My 4 yr. old son had some beef (?)
cuskynoles in a white cream sauce at this revel, and he LOVED them!!!
better than he EVER eats Ravioli at home. I think perhaps it was the Cream
sauce...
That rosted Turkey that was dressed up as a peacock sounded delightful, and
I suspect High Table has had common roast turkey once or twice in mundane
life...
If I am not mistaken, the SCA is supposed to be a fun thing for everyone.
Maybe the era of this Crown will be a good time for newcomers to join, and
attend a feast where they feel very comfortable and familiar with the foods
served. Then, when the NEXT crown takes the throne, you can throw the Tame
Birds in a Crust at them! :) Don't get mad about it, doesn't help anyone,
least of all yourself, to get ruffled. Accept the challenge and see if you
can't impress the new King and Queen with some truly delectable PERIOD
dishes that greatly resemble modern foods???

Just my 2 cents worth. Take it or leave it, won't cost you any more. :)

BTW, I found a neat web site tonight that some of you might be interested
in - it has excellent color pictures of many many many surnames' Coats of
Arms. I found Wells, Holland and Beebe. Longbotham, Terrell and Mills
were not listed.
Maybe you can find yours!
