Unto the several new folks that have signed on just recently, 
	Greetings!
		There is a lot of shouting going on right now, and this results in a
very busy list.  We are passionate about our food, and all of us have our
own opinions about anything you care to ask about.  Don't be shy, go
ahead and ask your questions.  Make stupid (seeming) comments if you
wish, and then sit back and see what kind of responses you get.  Most
everything is said in good humor, and should not be taken personally.  
		You should really take advantage of Stephan's Florilegium.  It is a web
site that contains past discussions of various topics from this list and
others, categorized by pertinent topic.  http://www.florilegium.org  It
is a very good place to look up a certain topic, to see what has been
discussed and posted up til now.  There are often complete recipes
included in the texts of these messages, and reading an entire file or
thread can be very educational.  
		Welcome to a very large family of food enthusiasts.  Pull up a chair,
get something hot to drink, and tell us what you're making for dinner!
