Probably because many parents don't feel comfortable feeding
their children things with alcohol in them. I certainly don't
allow my children to eat food with alcohol in them (nor do I,
myself) for religious reasons. Other parents may have other
reasons for not feeling comfortable about it (perhaps because the
family has had bad experiences with alcoholism?), but that
doesn't make the desire to avoid alcohol in meals either as an
ingredient or served as a beverage something to scorn.
