SC - No Period Feasts Allowed?

Can you imagine a feast with absolutely no 'period' foods?

You'd be looking at stewed emu or kangaroo with potatoes, corn and string
beans in a tomato and chilli sauce (OK, some of them are slightly in period,
but not by much).
Corn bread (tortillas maybe?).
That salad we were talking about a while ago with chocolate mouse (made with
coconut milk), pineapple and marshmallows (a use of sugar that I consider
'not-period' enough to use).

Square cheese served wrapped in their plastic.

And of course, coke/pepsi or fanta to round it off (maybe Coke or Pepsi are
off the list, because they use an awful lot of caramel).

You couldn't use chocolate for dessert, could you? Someone declared that to
be 'period' for the length of their reign a couple of months ago ;-)

As for alcohol - I don't know what would be considered not-period!

For full effect you'd have to eat it on plastic plates with plastic knives
and forks (and those thin paper serviettes).

Give me period ingredients any time!

Glenda.

(In my opinion these decisions are what you get by royalty being chosen by
'Who can stand up to being thumped the hardest for the longest'
competitions. Imagine what the SCA could be if Royalty was chosen for their
brains (or if there was more use of the Champion method)?? G.)
