I can see that but the dish in question was deep fried  and the wine was in 
the batter. No alcohol would remain in the item after that process. Both 
starch and sugars are converted into alcohol by the digestion process but I 
see no parent that disallows their children starches, sugars or fruits with 
any regularity and certainly not because of the alcohol created in the 
stomach which amount is really quite significant.

Oh, well, this is another one of those puzzling  things that some folks do 
for no real reason, I suppose. :-(
