It better be white corn meal.  And why use sugar at all?  My wife grew up in 
Mobile and was displease when I served her yellow with sugar. 

Of course Her serving red beans and rice to my "Y" friends on superbowl party 
did get a strange reaction.  Like "where the @#$%$@# is the real food.
