A local non profit group here in Ohio  drives to Baltimore and gets 
a  u-hail trailer of fresh clams.  packs them in Ice and has never had a 
problem.  They do this in February so the cold weather helps keep things 
fresh.  I believe that by going to the docks, they get a much better price.
