Agreed. I guess my major objection to the entire thread is that Spain as an 
entity did not exist until late in period. There were several Kingdoms that 
covered the geographical area we now call Spain. None of them were really 
'powers' in and of themselves and none of them had any real influence on the 
main population centers of Europe but rather adopted customs of European 
kingdom little by little as the influence of al-Islam dwindled and the 
kingdoms were able to overcome their own internal petty squabbles.
