They would probably work just fine.  

I used modern American strawberries when I made the strawberry tart.  I
would like to make it again with genuine fraise du bois, which are supposed
to have a more delicate taste.  If I do, I want to avoid any wines which
have a heavy flavor that might detract from the strawberries.
