Um, does it matter that you're on AOL and rec.food.historic is a UseNet
newsgroup? At one time AOL had some problems with UseNet newsgroups (AOL
having started life essentially as a large bulletin board service), but
from the number of people on AOL posting to rec.org.sca, a.k.a. The
Rialto, I can only assume there's way to do this.

For us regular Internet users, a news server separate from our mail
and/or http or web server, operated by our ISP, is normally required.
Maybe Ras or one of the other AOL users can help.
