It sounds as if you might be saying you didn't comply with your own
internal standards for being a judge, which suggests there's a fair
chance, at least, that you were a better judge than many. As the Emperor
Claudius is said to have stated, it's the people who _want_ to be on
jury duty that you have to watch out for. Judging is work, and I'd be
suspicious of a judge who didn't have at least some sense of inadequacy
in the field. Judges that are completely comfortable about it seem to be
the ones that blithely demand we grow our own cardamom.
